Penarth Times Celebrates returning Champions !

The Penath Times and South Wales Echo have both published articles praising the success of Welsh Kyokushinkai Karate in recent national and international competitions.

Following on from the success of senior instructors Mike Humphries and Lee Costa in the World Karate Championships (silver and gold), the Cogan club also achieved 13 top medals in the Kyokushin Karate Open.

We would encourage competitors of all ages to take this opportunity to  train with proven, internationally successful instructors and really aim for success at the top of the sport.

Medals for Lee Costa & Mike Humphries in the Karate World Championships !

The   First United World Karate (UWK) World Championship was held in Slovenia Koper, 12th – 18th Oct. Over the 4 days Lee Costa & Mike Humphries represented Wales with pride! Lee Costa 7th Dan came out 1st, winning Gold and 4th Dan, Mike Humphries came 2nd winning Silver! Both in the veterans master kata category.

The UWK, is the first body to bring the 3 types of karate disciplines together. Traditional, General and Contact.

The contact section where these medals were achieved,  was run by the Kyokushinkai world body IKOK.

Both winners teach and train at the Penarth leisure centre on Andrew Road. Where they run a full time dojo (club)

They would like to thank Karate Wales Governing Body to  made it possible for all of us to take part.
